So far, the USCIS has announced that it received 5,900 H-1B applications for the normal quota and an additional 4,500 for the advanced degree quota. These numbers were released yesterday, April 7, 2011.
In years past, many remember that the H-1B quota was exhausted as early as the first day of applications. Last year, the H-1B cap was not reached until January the following year. I would anticipate that with the economy still rebounding, the H-1B quota will last a significant amount of time. This will also ensure that everyone who can find a job offer this year will have a chance to make an H-1B application. USCIS has announced revised filing instructions for numerous petitions, including its Form I-140 (Immigrant Petition for Alien Worker), Form I-130 (Petition for Alien Relative), and Form I-539 (Application to Extend/Change Non-Immigrant Status). The new forms instruct petitioners to file their applications at USCIS Lockbox facilities rather than at USCIS Service Centers.

My H4 is expiring on 6th May 2011 and am planning to enroll in university in summer semester starting june 2011 and would be filing change of status also. my question is in case my F1 doesnt get approve before my H4 expires, will i get of status?Can i stay legally after H4 expires and before F1 gets approved?Pls advice.

The A# that is listed on my I-485 receipt notice is different from the one listed on my approved I-140. In addition, the number listed on my I-485 receipt notice has only 8 digits instead of 9. From reading various forums, I've heard both sides of the story...some are saying that something like this needs to be corrected, and some others are saying that the A# is just a file number, and eventually gets consolidated.
I called USCIS customer service, but they weren't much help as they couldn't pull up the information in their system.
Any inputs? I'm planning on inquiring about this when I go for fingerprinting. Also curious to know if anyone's A# on their approved I-140 has nine digits, and if the one on the I-485 receipt notice only has 8 digits.

Hi,
I am in an awkward position and any help will be greatly appreciated. Here is the run down:
- I am currently on an H1B that is scheduled to expire on May 15th, 2007 as per the stamp on my passport.
- I have accepted employment with another organization based on my EAD (485+140).
- The catch is that I plan to re-enter the US on April 21st, 2007(Saturday) but technically my employment will cease with the employer who filed my H1B on April 20th (Friday).
- I have applied for my travel document (I131-based on 485) but it will probably not arrive before I leave the country.
Questions:
- Can I re-enter on my H1B, although technically my employment ceased a day earlier?
- When do H1B�s technically expire after termination of employment?

IV website service provider has informed that they will be installing new hardware on the core switches that are used by IV servers. As such there is a scheduled down time of up to an hour which will occur on October 24, 2008, sometime between 12 AM CST and 6 AM CST.
As such access to IV website may be intermittently interrupted during this window on 10/24/2008.

I will change my employer in April and transfer my H1 with my wife's H4. My wife has found some company which would sponsor her H1B. I am on EB2+485 pending. My wife is on H4(we haven't filed her 485 due to retrogression). I am very confused now. Please help me!
1. My wife's company would apply H1B on April the 1st. My new employer will transfer our H1&H4 after that. Will we have any problem here?
2. My new employer would sponsor me EB1. I have EB2+485 pending. If I apply for EB1 140+485, what will happen my old 485?
3. I am thinking to apply 140 first and if 140 gets approved, I will file 485. I am not sure if I have any risk here. Is there any chance that my EB1 485 gets denied? Do my EB2 485 and EB1 485 have the same chances to get denied?

How do i file extension for H1b ....my h1b expires tomorrow..can i do it online...this is the first extension...
wow...you are the man. What were you doing till the last min. I am not sure how you can do that. But from day after tomorrow, you are simply out of status. Contact your company's attorney ASAP. It will take aleast ten days to prepare the papers. My opinion is don�t screw up trying to file yourself. Because you are running out of time...
